Who we are

KL Energy Corporation is a leader in providing biofuels technology and is accelerating the commercialization of its proprietary cellulosic technology for the production of ethanol. KL Energy developed its Cellulose Based Ethanol (CBE) technology through laboratory and pilot scale R&D resulting in the first woody biomass demonstration plant in the Nation. KL Energy is on course to be first to market with a viable process design to accommodate a variety of biomass feedstocks. The process design is scalable and environmentally sound which will complement economic conditions that serve potential plant sites around the world.

Our Business Strategy

  • We are in the process of upgrading and expanding our cellulose-based ethanol (CBE) plant's capacity and capabilities to create significant quantities of economical co-products, lignin and syrup.
  • We intend to license this technology and provide technical service and support to licensees:
    • Our modular plant design is scalable and adaptable to numerous settings where wood waste is plentiful.
  • We will continue to provide an array of engineering, technical and professional services to the renewable biofuels industry.

Our Business Organization

Our strategic direction has evolved in response to prevailing conditions affecting the economy and energy public policy, prompting positive changes in our business model. We intend to promote and capitalize on the human resource dimensions of our business - our talented and proven employee team. With their expertise contributing to our intellectual property in engineering, process design, operations optimization and innovation - and combined with our use of and majority ownership in a viable CBE plant - we are prepared for a leadership role in the renewable energy industry.

We are organized into four business groups. Engineering, Project Management, Operations and Research, and Business Development. Each of these groups is responsible for a role in business cultivation and revenue generation. Revenues from our business activity come from several sources, including technology licenses and service agreements, fees, government programs and research grants, and WBE operations.
